On the way home, today, I was in line with about 10 cars, one lane over from the slow lane. We were all passing a mini van, in the slow lane, going about 50 in an area where the flow is up to 85 or so. We were all slowing down for the next off ramp, passing this guy, when he starts moving over on me. I can see about half his van in front of me. I step hard on the brakes and honk. He backs off, then takes another shot, with the increased space. I can see that he has just now turned on his blinker and is holding his hand out the window, telling me I'm number one. And this from a lane that is clear in front of him. So I move over into the slow lane, that's clear and take the off ramp, only this guy follows me, honking his horn and still pointing out that I'm number one. I slow down, he slows down. I speed up and he speeds up. He tailgates me and I move over and slow down. Finally I manouver around a couple of cars and take an offramp and see him go under the bridge with his nose down, brake light on and some tire smoke. People are moving away and giving him some space as he misses the ramp. I'm glad that I got away from him. I have no idea what he wanted. His lane was clear, and my lane had about 10 cars in it. How stupid can he be following me so close at 60-70 miles per hour. If things got really serious, I suppose my v8 4Runner could out run a first generation Dodge mini van, or I could stick my trailer hitch through the front of his grill with the brake pedal. But I'm glad it did not come to any real trouble. I was calm, I think, but my dogs were upset, and you never really know what something like this can lead to.

Should've gone straight to a police station. Hopefully the guy would've been dumb enough to follow you, hope some officers are in or near the parking lot and let them know what was going on. Or even call ahead, let them know whats going on, and that you'll be arriving. It's probably one of those things easier said than done since i'm not in the moment.

Ive had to deal with people like that. On I-95 in delaware, the people are HORRIBLE drivers, and if you honk or make them upset, they will SLAM on their brakes.

More than once Ive called 911 on peopl whom I feel are threatining my safety or the safety of others.

Even if it gets nowhere and does nothing most of the time... someday one of these wackos will get into an accident and have a 911 call about them... and will get into big trouble. FWIW.

Road rage is ridiculous. The main reason why I moved. 35 miles shrunk to 12 minutes, and I can deal with road rage in the 8 mile drive...

Its a crazy world out there. Sounds like the minivan driver has zero mental stimulation during the course of a day.

sounds like you were going faster than the law allows. he was trying to help you slow down and save gas.

right neighbourly of him.

Well, didn't sound like you did anything wrong

Usually road rage is a result of someone like him ..but he's usually the object ..not the avenging angel of death.

Now we've got a new breed. Idiots that blame you for their screw ups. I guess that's really not all that new. They're just getting louder when they say, "See what you made me do?".

what a moron. one day hes gonna pull some crap like that and someone is gonna snatch him out of his car and beat him senseless.**** think twice when hes eating trough a straw for a couple months.i dont have a permit to carry a gun but this is the reason i keep a 2ft steel pipe behind my seat

Driving home from Sydney in the 4Runner, when our daughter was 6 months old, we were monstered by a motorhome (the 3VZE is truly gutless).

At one point, as I passed, he gestured, and decided to force us out into oncoming traffic...It's amazing how many Police stations in Oz aren't manned out of hours.

Last trip away, we saw a laden LPGas tanker overtake up a hill on unbroken liunes, forcing the oncoming traffic off the verge.

I found some of this commuting around Boston and used to get upset and occasionally badly react. Maybe its my 5 month old but I just drive carefully and let it all go.

I just leave as much space as possible and let the crazy people do their thing. I just wish those lane darters would use their signals always even if they are cutting you off (they do mostly around Boston). The road would be much less dangerous in the US where I have experienced the worse driving in the world due to simple agression, lack of attention and feeling of ownership of road.

I simply just honk when someone is going to hit my car and I cannot slow down, not out of frustration anymore. People are angry for some reason, I am not.

Rt. 128 still murder, huh? Boston is another planet. It's a traffic regulaton nightmare off of the 4 lanes. People develop odd habits when there is no correct way to navigate a 6 way intersection with blinking lights as the control mechanism. It kinda carries over to the rest of their driving.

Time to disable AC, sound systems, cruise control and wreck the cellular network. It'd get worse awhile and then they'd all get lonely and actually say a friendly word or two to each other at intersections.

I have found the best way to deal with idiots in the rearview mirror is to turn the mirror to the right, while making sure the driver, I mean idiot, behind you sees you do this. Make it where you can't even see the reflective glass.

Move your side mirrors if possible.

It will flat out drive them crazy (although it will be a short trip.)

write down his lic plate #, then brake check him and call the cops when he takes off and call it a hit & run = felony....

i brake check people all the time, mostly people who want to go 90+ in the middle lane instead of going around me and into the fast lane....they want you to move out of their way instead of them moving around you, a brake check solves that problem real fast, also one of my wiper squirters is tweaked somehow so it squirts over my car and onto their windshield, a big squirt works too....cause they think it's raining and they slam on their brakes, you know the california folks...

As difficult as at may be at times, I just try and go with the flow. There are too many crazy people out there. Think about how many people are carrying weapons in their vehicles! No thanks, I prefer to stay out of the mix.

Better watch out... The idiots in delaware always need to one up you...

Theyll pass you and then brake check to a dead stop... Happened to me more than once.

They want to get you out fo your car on the ide of the road to fight... Coming to your state soon...

Seriously. Be careful doing this...

Passive aggression is always the most effective. You can always claim innocence later on
