These Pirellis were on the Ascent I bought, and with aftermarket rims, so 55k vehicle miles but no idea on tires. After an additional 12k on them and knowing a Midwest winter is coming, I didn’t feel comfortable leaving them on (about 6/32” depth).

It’s clear to me the front end of the Ascent is a “pusher” in turns; the front tires round the shoulders off much faster than the rears. Anyways, due to past Conti experience and really good Tire Rack test results & reviews, sprung on Discount Tire for four 245/50/20s, just in time to nab the $110 rebate. Paired that up with 5% ID.me military discount and 5% Discount Tire card discount, but sandbagged by the $100 they charge to mount and balance. Totaled up $1070 OTD.

Saved the best looking Pirelli as a spare. So far the Contis are softer on edged impacts and definitely quieter, but still firm and controlled. Definitely looks like a better winter pattern. We’ll see how they do!

No experience with the Scorpions, but I put the LX25s on wife's Q5 and liked them a lot, although they were only used as 3-season tires in our case so I never had a chance to figure out how they handle the white stuff.

I was gonna but the LX25 to replace the OEM tires on my Mazda CX-50, but Continental had rebates on the TrueContact Tour's at the time and they ended up being cheaper than the LX25s. So, the TrueContact Tours are what got put on and they are much better then the OEM, so I'm happy with my Continentals.

I’ve had at least 3 sets of TrueContact Tours. They are a fabulous value and really good tire IME. The LX25 looks to be a little more suited for the heavier vehicle in adverse conditions.

@SubieRubyRoo which Pirelli Scorpion model were they? I have the Scorpion Verde AS+2 on daughters CRV. Only used for 3 season though (VikingContact 7 winter). They have been very nice for wet/dry/ride/noise I would get them again but the AS3 is the replacement version, we'll see then.

The Scorpion AT on FIL's Jeep Renegade were Ok in winter but not as good as dedicated winters. They also wore odd on his vehicle and got noisy.

How are the winters/snow by you? The LX25's get good reviews from many and on TR tests also. Should be good if you only run the one set year round until they also get lower on tread but that qualifies for all tires, all weather and winter. Please report back after some snow experience with them.

I need new tires for the wife’s mommy missile. It’s a 2014 T&C. I was looking at the X25’s but I’m drawn to the Goodyear Assurance All Season. Any feedback on them? The Goodyears seemed to have a newer and better review on tirehungry.

Thanks in advance.

Just my $0.02

My mom has those on her Ascent; I don't mind them. They're unassuming tires, average, and gets from point a to b just fine.

So I’m about 650 miles in on these so far. MUCH nicer impact reactions than the Pirellis, but don’t give up anything at sane driving speeds (okay, on/off ramps may have been taken at supralegal speeds) and while it’s no BRZ, these are an upgrade over the Pirellis IMO. To me, the softer impact results will benefit long term suspension life and keep the car “tighter” than the sledgehammer impacts that the Michelin LTXs on my truck have treated it.

Can’t wait til it’s time for the strut brace, TMIC, some King lift springs and Cobb tune! 😈

I love my LX25s. Same experiences as @tbm5690 with grooved concrete, but other than that they have great grip in wet and dry and good braking feel. The fuel economy doesn't seem affected either, which I was expecting coming from tires at 3/32.

@SubieRubyRoo did you consider an All Weather tire? Just curious since you mentioned Midwest winter.

I’m eyeing a Cobb AP as well since it’s finally available for the Outback XT. They also offer a veteran’s discount of 15% although not through ID me.

I’m 20 minutes from you. LX25 looked to be the best balance of a 12-mo tire for here.

I wish Cobb had U88 or even E30/E85 tunes for the FA24 that took advantage of the ethanol. The one thing that’s always been a letdown for me on Subaru turbos, especially with a CVT, is that you can’t ever really tell when the turbo’s adding anything useful. Which is nice for soccer moms, but not for performance. My F150, especially with the E30 tune, you can absolutely tell the enormous torque swell from 2000-4000 when you roll into it or have to hammer down. Maybe the STis are tuned differently?
