Looks like they'd done the research on the concept and proven it to their satisfaction, even if some folks here aren't convinced. 😄

Nothing new about this, but new to some people apparently.

Wow, never knew about the TP section in the filter. I assume this is bad? Does it disintegrate overtime or is it very efficient in filtering?

I'm confused. Is this a joke, or can oil actually pass through such a dense element? And it does look like delicate, lint ball producing toilet paper.

The Frantz (or Ralph Wood) really packs the TP in there, and it is only a bypass filter, not enough flow for an engine. Gets it clean gradually, though! Mercedes diesel filter cartridges had the same deal-full flow section with a bypass filter section, although not TP.

Cool. Not seen one of those Toyota filters. Dual element filters are not new, but they're not common for typical car/light truck applications. They are common in industrial and marine applications. Wix (57254)nand Donaldson (P550597) also have x-ref filters for this particular filter; also dual element.

Very factual and interesting oil filter thread. Here is the Wix on OReilly you mentioned but it has a 24mm thread. Not a particularly large filter on the outside. They have a link in the description to ISO cleanliness efficiency of an oil filter.
I would like to see the old Hastings depth filters, which were like this solid spoke shaped element and tried to be both depth fine filtration and good flow all in one element.

Interesting reactions. After some years away from this forum, the change in the level of discussion is striking.

So the scoffers and jokers (or attempted LOL) can't all be "Ams--l" reps with a hate on for toilet paper filters can they? 😄

Must be designed by the Toyota engineers that think more filtering efficiency is better. ;)

Available on Amazon:

Or Cheaper from a Toyota parts house:

Apparently though some things never change.
