I have set the tv cable adjustment to the factory settings in my 2001 Toyota Carina on 5AFE engine and A240L auto gearbox. When the gas pedal is fully depressed and if i pull the inner wire to left, i find that there is still a little slack in there. Is that normal? Is the seeting OK?

Yes, it is normal. Whenever you pull beyond the max, the TPS still reports the same max value to the ECU.
Some people will argue you need to tighten to the max before it change the idle rpm to maximize the performance, but some cars have huge variance between cold and hot engine for the cable, so if you tighten too much during cold, the idle becomes too high when the engine is hot.

The slack is probably designed in to make up for cable stretching and shrinking over temperature extremes.

If it shifts well you're likely good.
