Toyota 90915-YZZD3 cut open

This filter came off a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser 4.0L. Unknown OCI and oil used. It was cut open with a Dremel.



I'm assuming it has a nitrile ADBV since it's black - it was still pliable. The bypass spring still moved when actuated manually.

I have one question, why do we fret about cardboard end caps so much, but these filters are regarded as decent. I don't see an end cap on this filter AT ALL???

Really...just curious. I swear
 
these filters use superior glue to hold the pleats together, their is no chance of this glue failing unless a manufacturing error occured.

fram uses good glue also!

I think the issue with cardboard is more on prolonged high-rev, it may not that lasting. However for daily driving it should not be a problem.
 
ZOMG no end caps..... or did it???
