I've been using Amsoil 5W-30 in my V6 3.4 4Runner
I was thinking of using the Series 2000 0W-30
for the winter and switch back to 5W-30 in the summer. I live in Canada and my truck is parked outside all the time in the winter.
Any opinions on this idea? or other suggestions?

Why change from winter to summer? Why not just run one, probably the 0W-30, all year round. I'm running German Castrol 0W-30 in my 3.4L 4Runner year round. Before that I was using M1 5W-30 year round...

The castrol will be fine, its a thicker oil than Mobil so I would think it would be better in the summer. Im comparing it to Amsoil 5w-30 in my car now and will be soon in my 3.4L Taco.

If so then I'll use it all year...

The 0W-30 castrol is thicker than the Mobil 1 5W-30 I was running at all temperatures but very low ones. I wouldn't worry about running any good quality 0W-30 or 5W-30 synthetic in your 4Runner year round...

Sounds like a good plan! If the 0W30 actualy offers improved cold cranking then go for it. It does not make much sense to spend the extra money on the 0W30 when 5W30 does as well or better in UOA. This is especialy true in the warm months when you gain nothing buy have the 0W.

Maybe I should just use Amsoil series 3000 5W-30
all year round
