This 4 cyl motor, used on 02+ Camry, Highlander, Scion tC, does not appear to have an user replaceable PCV valve. Anyone know what the story is? Has the PCV been replaced by something else that does not require service?

Jonny,

First, remove the plastic cover from the top of the motor (3 or 4 nuts).

Find the hose coming into the valve cover opposite of the oil fill cap... this hose is connected to the PCV Valve.

The PCV Valve is threaded; you need to unscrew it from the valve cover.

Take Care.

Thanks oily boyd! Is this part supposed to be lifetime? I do not see a service schedule for it and there is no aftermarket makes for it.

You are correct - no mention of PCV replacement in the Normal or Severe Maint scheds.

I replace all of our PCV valves once per year (even my wife's civic!) because it's easy to remember and eliminates one contributor to sludge.

BTW, I have asked 2 Toyota dealers for a PCV valve (same valve for 2002-present on the 2.4L) and neither had one in stock.

A search should reveal a lot of posts on this subject... pay attention to posts from John Browning; he knows a lot about these engines (all engines, actually).
