Hey guys. I contacted my local Toyota dealer re; the 0W20 oil. They stock it, and the price is $7.25 a quart. Does this sound about right for this oil?

IIRC, people on here have gotten it in the $5-$6 range, but I called all the dealers in the Indy area and all were in the $7.xx range. I think I ended up paying $7.36 + tax. Someone on here not too long ago found out what the wholesale dealer cost was. Anyone remember?

It's a fair price..picked up a case at my local dealer recently for ...get this..$6.50 /litre.

I was just curious to see if they stocked it, and for how much. I really dont think I should use it in my RX.

Don't get me wrong the Toy 0w-20 is a good enough oil I could see people seeking it out for what it is. But I imagine most people who want to buy it just want to maintain good records for their warranty and won't do ebay. For example we just bought a new Sienna, I'll buy the oil and filter from the dealer for the first change or two just in case.

All that has to be done is to print out the Ebay invoice for the oil purchase and keep oil filter purchase receipts.

I don't know why you would say that. The oil has been back spec'd for you vehicle. Especially for winter use in your climate I can't think of a better engine lube. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2467275&page=1 Regarding the price. You can always negotiate a better deal with the dealer on a 12 bottle case.
I`m just afraid it might burn/leak oil on it.

I wonder why the Mobil site only recommended a 0W-40 for my 1991 420SEL with none of the questions of mileage, temp, etc. like they did for the 1993 SC400 or 1992 SVX? What about those great 15W-40 Delvac and Mobil TDT products? Cheers! p.s. CATERHAM: please note your chart from the Great White North doesn't "back-spec" either the early SC400 or SC430's to a OW-anything.

It`s like I mentioned once before, it has had nothing but 5W30 for 97,400 miles. And to go to a thin oil like 0W20 has to have some affect on it. I would think so anyway after being around engines most of my life. If I muster up the courage to try it, I`ll pm you and let you know how it is.

Funny, now on the Pennzoil site it suggests either PP 10W-30 or a 10W40 Synthetic Blend for the 1991 W126! What ever happened to LongLife 15W-40? Cheers! p.s. Took out the dino 5W-30 I put in to get to 90K in the SC400 and put in QSUD. Oil was just starting to have a little color after 4K, or so. Didn't add a drop. I really like that motor! I've been pretty lucky (KNOCK WOOD!) having not purchased a brand new vehicle since 1992 (my SVX).

When I got my RX400h, it had 115000km on it. Maintained by the previous owner at the Lexus dealership (I can see the records online via the VIN) so 5w30 used. It now has 180000km on it and I've been using the Toyota 0w20 in the winter and switching back to 5w30 in the summer (only because I had some jugs to use up). This summer I will be running the 0w20, so 0w20 all year. Nothing leaks, and over 10000km OCI I don't see any noticeable drop on the dipstick. Just do it....lol.
