Torque spec.....

Anyone know the torque spec for transmission pan bolts? I just had the transmission fluid serviced by the dealer and want to correctly torque the pan bolts to avoid leaks. Thanks.

Most times I try and use a torque wrench on pan bolts, the gasket squeezes out. I don't even try anymore.
Maybe you have a new, reinforced type, but the older ones could crack, and leak.
Do it by feel, and make them even. If it's not leaking, don't go crazy down there.

I agree. On some gasket material (mostly cork) , if you torque the fasteners to spec, it seems to deform the gasket and press out.

Quality fiber gaskets do this less.

8-10 ft-lbs is a safe number for most.

The "Elbow" torque wrench works best for some setups as MechTech.

I have the new reusable gasket from the dealer...it's not cork. I torqued the bolts down to 20ft lbs.

My spec was 120 inch pounds.
