I thought 15 and 16 inch tires are going the way of the dinosaur. I'm not so sure it's lack of supply driving the price up on the 19 and 20 inch tires.

Probably the same reason premium gas is so incredibly more expensive than regular.... greed.

Some marketing is involved and fact that these big tires are considered premium, however just like with premium vehicle brands, there is also extra engineering better materials and extra production costs involved.

Those tires have to be engineered better and probably use better materials in order to absorb the same loads but on less air cushion.

LOL, Yeah, my Edge has 21s on it. I don't even want to think about it.
