After seeing a few organized tool boxes, I wanna take a crack at mine.
What liner makes sense, not too expensive, please.
Here's the larger box, in the background. Thanks in advance!

Gearwrench trap mat. Keeps everything lined up and easy to fine. Works with pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers.

Organized my collection of screwdrivers.

I have the Craftsman precut liner in one box and HF in another. They are nothing special but work just fine. I also have wrench, socket, and screwdriver organizers in the box, so I only needed cushioning.

The Gearwrench mat mentioned above looks interesting. Especially if you don't plan to add other tool organizers in the drawers.

The OP didn't mention the depth of the drawers, so I took a chance on posting that link.
Good point!
Roll Away:
  • Drawers 20 1/2" deep
  • Top drawer 4' wide
  • Left Side 16 3/4 wide, 5 drawers
  • Right Side 28 1/2 wide, 7 drawers

Smaller box:
  • 18" deep
  • 29 1/4 wide, 7 drawers
I also have a couple bench top boxes at our home in Petaluma. Those are probably OK.

I don’t know what I got a decade ago in my one box, but it has stuck to some of my seldom used tools. Very messy. It’s the bumpier, softer foam type.

A lot of them will do that. Especially with heavier tools like big pneumatic wrenches and hammers. I have the Harbor Freight liners in all of my boxes. They will "grip" a tool that sits untouched for several months. But nothing drastic.

Over time, the liners themselves end up "gripping" the bottom of the drawers, more than the tools. So it's usually not a problem. I've heard of some of these rubber / plastic liners reacting with some plastic and resin handles on tools, causing them to, "melt".

I bought one of those cheap laser, "point & shoot" thermometers that has a sticky, gummy handle like that. So I set it on a piece of paper towel, and not directly on the liner itself. It works OK, and eliminates the sticking.

It must be some type of chemical reaction between the resins in the different plastics and rubber.
