Ford recommends 10w30 for its entire range in the Middle East. I'm looking to extend drain intervals using a quality full synthetic. Most all full synthetics are 40 weights, except Fuchs Titan Supersyn Longlife 5w30, and that is not an API rated oil. It has ACEA A3/B4, BMW LongLife 01 and MB Sheet 229.3/229.5 approvals instead:

Quote:
TITAN Supersyn LONGLIFE SAE 5w30
Fully-synthetic, high-performance, extreme fuel-economy oil for BMW and Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Specially developed for BMW and MB extended service intervals. Optimum cold starting and lower oil consumption.

- ACEA A3/B4
- BMW Longlife-01
- MB 229.5/229.3

The other alternative is Mobil 1 0W-40. Given the choice of Fuchs Titan Supersyn LL 5w30 and M1 0W-40, which would be a better suited oil for a 16-valve Ford Modular V8?

Either one is good but personally I would go with the M1. Availability is better and in the sand box it will eventually sheer down to a 30WT anyway.

I ran the Supersyn once in my Charade GT Ti - with the forged pistons it sounded like it was going to come apart! I went back to using the Fuchs HDEO's with better sounding results. Not a good comparison....but you not going to find many who have used Fuchs oils on this forum.

Falcon, you're not going to get much of a N.American response because German made Fuchs is not commonly available here.
I have just found a local source for their Titan GT-1 5w30.

I see that it is a GP III syn in that grade and with a 40C vis of 71 cSt it is lighter than M1 0W-40's (vis of 80 cSt) at all temps you're going to see.
Nevertheless that is what your engine is spec'd for so it should be fine.

Fuchs Titan is likely the best oil in the World. We only get it here for motorcycles. It shares the same PAO Methylcrylate co-olgimer base oil as German Castrol Syntec. Higher HT/HS for the +100c visc than other oils. Mobil 1 does not do that trick..
