I was looking at those as well on tirerack with really great numbers. Funny thing is, some people write reviews saying they are very noisy and others say they are very quiet. This is why I hate reading reviews because it's almost like a quessing game. Anyway for the most part these LE's got great reviews. Do you have pics you can post? I know it's not a fashion statement but just wondering how they look mounted. What size are you running?

awesome post about the destination LE's. I have researched the heck out of this deal, for a 255/70/16 tire for my f150. The OEM goodyears are done at 48k miles. They still have some tread but they are unsafe when it rains [Smile] Anyway I have been reading all the tire sites and reading reviews. What sold me on the LE's was this. I was at the Carlisle ford show poking around the fairgrounds. I got to talking with the tire guy there. He sells alot of high end tires for trucks and sporty fords. I asked him what he had in my size, he didn't have anything but the first words out of his mouth was "firestone destination LE" thats what you want to get. He says that after the explorer recall deal, firestone is making the best quality tires they have ever made and they are practically giving them away. I'm ordering my set on tirerack tomorrow, 80 bucks a pop. Now thats a good deal. JH

Believe it or not, he's actually telling you the truth. Since the "fiasco", they've significantly upgraded their light-truck tires..."over-engineered" them if you will. A little poking around will show you that they've incorporated several features from their high-end Bridgestone Revo tire while still keeping the nice price tag.

No I don't, and you probably wouldn't want to see them anyway. They're mounted black side out, are on my 'ol beater truck, and are always very dirty. Mine are LT235/75/R15 and my friend (based on my recommendation) is running the LT31x10.5/15 on his older Nissan Pathfinder (a farm vehicle that has some very dirty tires as well). He's also very impressed!

I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Inline 6 and want to replace my rough riding Michelin LTX A/T tires with an all-season highway tire. I'm looking for a more smooth quiet riding tire which is not harsh over bumps and city driving and quiet on the highway. I do not want any type of A/T tire so REVO's and BFGoodrich All-terrains are out. The size I want is a P225 75 15 (standard load - SR). I was on the tirerack website, where I bought my Michelin's ,and was looking at the Yokohama Geolandar HT Y816 and the rating numbers seem pretty good. Anyone have these tires on the there SUV if so what's your opinion and mileage on these tires? thanks.

I have the Firestone Destination LE on my 99 S-10 4x4 and I am very happy with them. The OEM Goodyear Wranglers had no traction compared to the Firestones. There will be a set going on my wife's Rodeo in the next couple months.

If you want to saty with a Michelin, try the LTX M/S tires. Much more of an all season type tread. Everyone I know who has had them has been very happy. Also have heard good things about the Destination LE's these days!

Not looking to pay that much money for tires. I'm looking to spend no more than $70 per tire. I'm deciding between the Firestone Destination LE and the Yokohama Geolandar H/T.

A coworker is running the GeoLanders. He likes them and I've driven his Explorer. They do pretty well on wet or dry pavement. He had Avids S/Ts on it before, and they seemed to be a better tire, but if you are doing any off-pavement excursions, the Geolander would be the better choice.

I'm going to go out on a limb and recommend the Goodyear Wrangler HT. I had these on my S-10 and they were the smoothest, quietest running tires I had on that vehicle. I bought them because I was sick and tired of the drone coming from the all-terrain/off-road tires I had on the truck previously.

Have any pics on the Firestone Destination LE?

I will take a pic of the destinations on my 98 nascar f150. They really look nice. I ended up getting mine at the firestone dealer. My brother called them and asked if they gave any discounts for employees of the car dealership next door, and sure enough I got over a 100 dollar discount on 4 tires, and I got lifetime balance and road hazard. I paid 405 out the door installed and everything. Very happy with the tires so far. My goodyear wranglers were terrible.

Recommendations: Geolander HT are excellent Sears branded Michelin XC LT4 Sears branded Michelin XCX APT Michelin Cross-Terrain Bridgestone Dueler DLT (discontinued, if you can find them a steal)

I agree with this choice. I ended up buying Revos for my 4Runner instead of the Destination LE's but with the amount of time I've spent droning down the interstate lately I've wondered if I wouldn't have been happier with the Firestones...

FWIW, The Bfg Long Trails (I also belive that they come with a 50-60k wnty) have pretty decent life, handling, and great traction in the rain/snow. If my memory serves me right, I think that you should be able to get into a set for ~$280 at Sam's club including all the services (road haz, R+B's, FF, etc).
