my wheels are 16x7.5, how wide of a tire should I mount on them? currently running 205/60/16... also interested in super-lower profile tires. all suggestions and comments are appreciated, thank you.
245/50 is probably best. If you go wider it will soften responce and this is just a hair smaller diameter then what came stock. Your speedo will still be useable.

Some tire manufaturers still show recommended wheel widths for their tires
Here's a Michelin page

You can work backward through the pages to find other tires.
Rule of thumb tires cross section should be about 1.33 times rim width. That gives you 10 inich section width, or 254mm. Anything within 20-25 mm of that should be OK.
XS 650, You'll find that as the profile gets lower, your tire width will need to come down a bit. Most manufacturers give recommended available whell widths for tire sizes and which width the tire specs were measured with. For performance, I would not go with a narrower wheel width than the one the tire was mwasured with.
I dont know what your stock size is but a P245 is the right width. If you need a tire height of 26" for the speedo to be in cal, then 245/50R16
Might I recommend the Yokohama ES100 if you're just looking for grip in wet/dry for the money too. Avon's tires are nice too, I run them now.
