Looks like their very well made and easy to read sizes.

Back when we lived in Duvall if I got an odd one I would roll down the hill to the old timey hardware store to check against their stock.

I have both an SAE and metric screw checker plates.

I typically use a caliper and thread pitch gauges (if needed). The pitch gauges are kind of hard to read if comparing threads that are close in number; I had to sort through some 1/8" NPT and 1/8" BSPT fittings and the difference between 27tpi and 28tpi (respectively) is very subtle.

I've had this single-cable one for years. It's useful, with its limitations. I kinda think I got it from Travers.
