Another 20 minute storm followed by a 12 hour and counting outage. The irony of a recent email from said utility company where they were bragging/justifying raising their rates (again), switching to 100%, and ”improving reliability and reducing the duration of outages” is not lost on me… seeing as this is the third outage this year over 5 hours.
Good news is 6,250 running watts is enough to run the AC and well pump while running the rest of the house like normal

Well it has cost far more than it should, took longer than I anticipated (do not buy a metal shed from Menards, flimsy paper thin metal for EVERYTHING), but it’s solid and safe for the chickens.
The cat has taken a special interest to the chickens. He doesn’t taunt them or anything, he just sits on guard and goes after hawks/racoons to keep them safe.

12x12 for the coop, the run is 4 10ft long panels… all predator safe. I also put a spinny turbine vent on the roof, which works amazingly well.
