Good Evening folks. A friend asked me about this oil yesterday. Said I haven’t used it; as only guy I know using it is BrendanC

Seems it’s the little brother to restore and protect or am I missing something. Let’s discuss this

From what I read, they seem more like...cousins. A bit different in their purposes?

Don't know...I'm not a petroleum engineer, nor a chemist. I'm sure someone will have a better answer.

I really need your help on this, can you please tell me who is Valvoline Restore and Protects Big Brother?

🤣🤣🤣

I meant Valvoline Restore and Protect
Thank You 4 answering my question! LOL
I remember back in the 1980's, all we had was quart bottles of

Valvoline
Castrol GTX
Mobil 1

I know there were other oils, the Mobil 1 bottle was what it was, but the Valvoline and Castrol bottles really looked great. JMO

Hey Stude, if your friend is asking about EP HM oil, the notion of extending his OCI might be his goal.
As a 'true blue' car care giver (or something like that), make sure you point out the pitfalls of doing so.

Seriously. While OCIs can be extended if all circumstances are correct, few will put out the effort (regularly checking oil level) or money (establish a pattern of oil analyses) to ensure they're doing it correctly.

I can so see Joe Average reading ads and labels featuring 10k, 15k and 20k mile claims....then having a money saving idea!

Roofing tar in the oil pan, anyone?

i have had some dirty filters come off of vehicles that i ran the EP HM in. the oil is very light in color compared to its non ep counterpart. probably my favorite off the shelf oil followed closely by R&P and PUP 5w-30.

if it’s any better than the normal synthetic hm variant, i ran my truck from 60k to 225k on Valvoline syn HM where i went to ep hm then to PUP+EC40 and now to HPL. i shoved a cam in it at 200k with a new high pressure/high volume oil pump.

all of my oil changes went to the MM on my silverado.

hearing the top end noise difference from other oils to Valvoline HM oils aswell as keeping stuff clean yes. i saw PUP load a oil filter on a ford 5.0L when the previous filter came off clean.
Never ran the EP HM but the regular EP 5w30 was the quietest 30grade oil in my Expedition.
