Anyone have any additional thoughts on tool cabinets. Last round it looked like the 44" one from HF was the best deal for cost/quality.

I think I can get a 20% discount.

I still like some of the aluminum looking ones at Sam's.

Got one from Amazon, well made. The type which lock the draws when the top is closed can be a PIYA, though.

I have a Craftsman door buster, I think it was 100 bucks for a 5 drawer rolling cab and a five drawer upper. It's great for the price, but I really wish I would have spent more. The drawers deflect under load and are hard to push/pull out.

Beats a five gallon pail I guess. Just saying, don't be like me and have one day of happiness and five years of misery.

The 44" looks nice.

I got the 3 box, 11 drawer, 30" HFT special earlier this year for ~$150. It's perfect for my usage. No way if it's something needed for 8hrs a day. Same goes for anything HFT though.

I currently have a 20 (or so) yr old Craftsman with ball bearing drawers. I would take another one like that, but not sure they still make that quality anymore. But I am out of room.

Yep, I've got a 20 something yr/old twin box Craftsman. Ball bearing slides and heavier gauge than the HFT for sure. Just a bit small.

IMO, the HFT units are ideal for storage of tools you don't use regularly. I don't see the point in high dollar cabinets for that.

If you look on the HF coupons they specifically say they can't be used on tool boxes anymore. Unless you can get a worker to override it, you probably won't be able to get 20% off.

I have the HF cabinet. It's worked great for me over the last three years. Mine is the older style. They've updated it since I bought mine.

Right - an employee at HF whom I know said he can get it for me.

I think that you would be happier buying a decent used one off CL than picking up the cheapest one you can find at HF.

There are a few great American manufacturers out there if you want something that is going to last. I just got a new machinist box from Kennedy that is very nice. Snap On and Matco has amazing boxes with some very fair deals.

You may do better buying used if you can fnd it.

I got a killr deal with an on the spot discount... so I got a US assembled Husky at HD recently. Its OK, though Im sure a used MAC or SO would be far better.

Right. When I bought the 11 drawer, 3pc cabinet. The coupon was specific to the unit. $149 with the coupon.

the coupon for it is still around, i've seen it in the back of popular mechanics or popular science in the last month or so.

I have indeed seen some used Matco or SnapOn, but they were close to $1000, while I am sure they are excellent quality, its a lot for a used tool cabinet.
