Thickest or thinnest oil you have used in winter

I run 5w30 all year round in our gasoline powered vehicles and 15w40 all year round in my Ram Cummins. My OPE is 5w40 HDEO regardless of season.

Just my $0.02

Temperatures don't get too low over here in the UK. I think -10°c (14°f) is probably the lowest we see every few years. Especially near to the coast where I live.

Same climate here. "Back in the day" (late 1980s and early 1990s) I used 10W-30 and 15W-40
during winter, while 15W-40 and 20W-50 during summer. Today I run either 0W-30 or 5W-30
regardless of season.

My previous trucks were a 1993 k1500 suburban 350 and a 1982 f250 300ci big six single barrel carb. Both got 15w40 year round never had problems in winter. That 300 was the easiest starting carcurated vehicle I've ever owned

Current, 5w40 in lower Michigan all 12 months.

Past vehicles 0w20 all four seasons.

Note: in 2016 I was in Wyoming with 328i filled with 5w40 Service Pro. At -28f the car had issues turning over. Enough issues I called the company and spoke to the President about the formulation...

My HD was always on 20w50 year round.

I am a synthetic customer for all fills.

Thickest in winter was Penrite 20W60, and sometimes GTX 20W50, plus a recent run of SAE30 monograde. All mineral oils.

For thinnest, that would be a synthetic 5W30.

But I live in Australia, so it sort of doesn't count.

I mean, when I was younger? 10W30 pretty much went into all my cars, but now? I ran 5W30 for several winters in a car that required 0W20. Not exactly living life on the edge. No problems to report and I’d do it again.

When I was much younger I bought a 1967 Opel Kadet with a totally worn out engine for $50.00. Towed it to the Diesel shop I worked at, pulled the engine, and overhauled it over the weekend for around $100.00.
It was my beater and it ran great. I called it the Opel Kaput.

Straight 30 weight Havoline conventional oil.
For 12 yrs in Missouri. Very hot summers and pretty darned cold winters.
Old 300 six cylinder didn't care. It ran great. Drove it 311,000 miles and sold it for 2500 bucks.
2 wheel drive, 5 speed tranny.
