thicker oil,less flow?

Depends upon the oils temperature at the time .All things equal probably but unless at extremes it is probably not worth thinking about.

There will be less resistance to flow with a thinner oil, but the same amount of oil will flow through the filter media unless the restriction is high enough to open the filter bypass. Since they both carry the same winter rating, I doubt the difference would ever be significant.
 
Hate2work, what is the best thing to use to get sprayed diet coke wiped off my computer screen;)?
 
Thinner oil will flow easier through your filter. It will also flow easier through your engine. This may mean that more of it may flow through your engine.
