I'll take it for 400.One of the Future Ford dealers in NorCal, I think Clovis, had their shop burn down when dropping a gas tank to change a fuel pump. We have a dedicated pump to evacuate fuel from a tank to hopefully prevent this. The disposal part is the most fun, we usually get charged $500-1000 for a company to take the contaminated fuel.
I would never transfer or drain gasoline in any building even a lawn mower or chainsaw. I do not have the whole story. I think the sealer truck was outside and the mechanic was siphoning the gas out. I am told he went to do something and told the driver to watch it. It was in the truck''s diesel fuel tank. I agree I would have told the worker to hold on and called tow truck.Was it in the truck’s fuel tank or a tank for a heater?
I’ve had two instances of drivers putting gas in a diesel tank. One drove the tank empty and ruined the fuel system. The other realized the mistake and towed it back to our shop. I pumped it out using the trucks fuel pump. Both were Powerstrokes.

Another issue is putting DEF in the diesel fuel tank. In that case don't even turn the key to unlock steering wheel. Disconnect batteries then unlock steering wheel then have it towed
I am told Ford sells an "oops" kid for those that start the engine with some DEF in fuel tank

And yes we do have those kits. Officially it is called a Fuel Contamination Repair Kit, unofficially its the oops I screwed up (insert 4 letter word) kit.
Honestly I haven't heard of it happening with a DCR. The whole point of those is they are factory installed in places with even worse diesel than in the US and don't have that issue.So unlock/open passenger door, reach over to release hood, disconnect batteries then call tow truck.
How bad are things with DEF in the fuel with a DCR pump?
