The "smell" of slightly used oil

When it comes to checking oil for level, I like to look, feel, and smell it. I notice though after about 400 miles, my oil looks good but starts to have a hint of gas.

How many miles do you log before you notice your oil starts to change smell, look, or feel?

Oh, about 100 miles. Oil is constantly changing its composition as the miles rack up. At some point it changes enough that it actually needs to be replaced with new oil.
