The new Supertech 9972 (Toyota cartridge filter) is rather impressive

Thanks, I'm in market for oil filter for my 2007 Sienna, gonna get this one! Thanks!
I snatch these up whenever I go into a Walmart. You need to check for uneven pleat spacing though as some are very wide in some spots and too tight in others. Been using 9972 on my 07 sienna through all the changes in media type and never had issues.

I notice it has less pleats than a Fram ultra xg9972.

Cartridge filters do not provide very tight seal around by-pass valve, and I do not think very high efficiency really matters because they will never be very tight

Thinking of this one ST9972, but also considering the Mobil M1C-251A, price doesn't matter, which would you choose?

Thanks!

That M1 filter is constructed similarly to the OE Toyota/Denso filter. Made in South Korea. I have used plenty of them.

Well built filter but not sure it is worth an extra $10.

I can get the Toyota filter for around $4-5 from the dealer when I buy four at a time. Has anyone compared the two?

This is the latest. Should one be concerned with fewer pleats?

Can't really judge two filters like these by the number of pleats, or total media area. That can only be used when comparing two filters using the same exact media. The SuperTech looks to be using fill synthetic or a very high amount of synthetic blended media, that's why it has a metal screen backing - and it's thicker than the Toyota media. The SuperTech box said it's rated for up to 10K miles, so go by that.
