It looks like very good oil. The specs are comparable to Mobil 1 (although M1 slightly betters them) in most categories. I guess it comes down to cost to tell if it's a good value.

hello, a newbie here.
anyway this is the specs about the new petronas engine oil. can u tell whether it is good.
BTW in malaysia we dont have AMSOIL and REDLINE engine oil and our mobil 1 only have the 1w-40 and 5w-50.

Vis@100C of 9.6 looks like a 20wt to me! TBN of 7 looks a bit disappointing, I suppose SM oils must really have their additives slashed even further. The pourpoint and flashpoint look like this is PAO stuff. I wonder why they never listed the HTHS, maybe it's frightfully low.

The "30wt" is almost a 20wt. The 40wt. is a thin 40wt. It might be decent if it is shear stable.

Looks like there is a buttload of VI's in there too. Can anybody convert those prices to US dollar? Wonder what the cost is? Also, is the current SL oils going away when the SM stuff kicks in? Are we all going to have to start using this stuff someday?
