but I am curious as to what kind of analysis would be required to distinguish between two oils which were both...say 0W-30 but one was 'energy conserving' (American Castrol) the other not (German Castrol)? For many of us it isnt the 0W-30 that violates the car manual's instructions but rather the lack of the starburst.
