I was out in the hot sun thus afternoon, putting a new cv axle in the Taurus, along with a wheel bearing and brakes.

Got done and took it for a quick test drive up the road - all is well.😎

But that’s not what this is about: some poor guy had the kind of day seen in the attached photo. Literally a mile from my house, and burning like mad in the ditch.

Looks like an old Ford?

Sadly that's a 73-79 dent side, probably a 78-79 Bronco.

Hope any occupants were okay at least. Sucks to see one that has survived so long get totaled. I'm sure the owner was not happy.

I should have said so.. yes they were fine. Well, he was holding his head in his hands by the side of the road while his wife(?) talked with the deputy.

Being the owner of 1991 Toyota, these sort of anecdotes convince me to buy and store a small fire extinguisher in my older car.

Probably should be thankful it didn't start a brush fire.
It’s been rainy for the past few days, and that piece of property is a bit wet. And it didn’t ignite into anything more… I’ll be going by that spot later this morning and I’ll see how far the burn went..
