That is one seriously cool looking car. It sure has taken VW long enough to get all the bugs worked out and move the Bugatti into production.

My bet is the factory fill is Edge 0w40.
 
It's amazing Mercedes and Porsche can design their engines for Mobil 1 but for some reason exotics like the VW based Bugatti can't. What does the Bugatti oil cost? The Ferrari Enzo uses a special oil (it's either a Castrol product or an Italian mfg, not sure) that costs over $60 a qt. Of course considering the Enzo is over 650K and the Bugatti over 1.2M, it's all relative.

Engine design doesn't really have anything to do with the brand of oil chosen. That is solely a function of money changing hands. Castrol and VW already had a "relationship" that involves Castrol supplying the first-fill lubricants for VW Group engines, so the Buggati getting Castrol wasn't surprising.

And the Enzo comes with Shell Helix Ultra 10w60 in it. Ferrari has had a first-fill relationship with Shell ever since Shell became their Formula 1 sponsor and race oil supplier.
