The 2012 (or 2013?) VW Beetle

They look better -- as the previous design was very old. They now look like someone stepped on a bug (slightly). A turbo would be fun, but I still wouldn't buy/drive one.

Exactly. Do they still have the flower holder?

That got deleted, I heard.

Slap a Porsche badge onto this, and it would fool a lot of folks into thinking it was an old Porsche.

Porsche 356 for comparison:

It looks better, but there is no way to make that kind of car space efficient. That is the #1 reason I don't like the modern VW Beetle.

I think it's funny how preoccupied some get with what they think they'll "look like" driving a vehicle, a so-called "chick car". If it drives right and puts a smile on your face, who cares what anyone else thinks?

Someone around here, a soldier, has a 1st gen New Beetle. He's got it lowered some, with window tint, BBS wheels, and a smooth exhaust. It's a Turbo model and looks pretty good. He likes it, and that's great.

Well said, Jason.

+1

where I live, Porsche Boxters and 3-5 series beamers are very popular chick cars. And the soccermoms love their x series beamers as well.

Chick cars......

Around here a Suburban or Range Rover could count as a chick car.

Used to get the "girl car" hooey about my Focus. But every time it shifted perfect, braked right up to the point of lockup with control, went around corners at speed with control and nice tactile feedback, 27 MPG doing 80 MPH and frequent "Italian tuneups". I would just smile.
