Exactly, in fact it's viscosity characteristic much more closely approximate the OEM oil that Honda Canada specifies. Yes the 200 VI Idemitsu 0W-20 is still what Honda/Acura Canada uses although Honda USA switched to CoP. Even so, the CoP made 0W-20 is still lighter (higher VI and lower HTHSV) than M1 0W-20 and all OTC aftermarket 0W-20s.

While Idemitsu may still be Honda's supplier in Canada, I seriously doubt that the oil they're supplying is the same as the 200 VI GF-4 formula.

Provide proof or it didn't happen. Remember, I got low moly ~170 VI Idemitsu oil in a Subaru bottle labeled API SM/GF-4 . Reasonable speculation would indicate it's an SN/GF-5 formula in mis-labeled bottles. It's been over a year since formulators were supposed to stop shipping GF-4 oil.

Why not just use Honda's oil or an oil that is spec'd by Honda in the Honda and see how that holds up next time when the engine should be totally broken in? Leave the Toyota oil for Toyota, then if there's a warranty issue no one from Honda can ask why'd you use Toyota oil in your Honda. You'll save yourself a lot of grief if there's a problem down the road. Food for thought that's all.

The Honda/Acura Canada 0W-20 is still the Idemitsu made GF-4, high moly 200 VI 0W-20 ans is Mitsubishi in the US and Canada.

When Honda USA changed suppliers to CoP it was to use a GF-5 oil and at the time Idemitsu did not have a high VI GF-5 0W-20 to offer, not even as high as CoP's offering.
Subaru did stay with Idemitsu but switched to their GF-5 low moly lower VI 0W-20.

Mazda USA was using Idemitsu's GF4 0W-20 but recently have switched to the new GF-5 high moly even higher VI (221) 0W-20.
For the time being Honda/Acura Canada have not yet switched to a GF-5 0W-20 oil, not sure about Mitsubishi.

Regarding Honda warranty issues, there aren't any. You can run any 0W-20 oil you want as long as it is API approved and all OEM 0W-20s are.

I'm gonna try the TGMO 0w20 on my 2010 R18 ... I just usually follow the OLM on the car and hopefully this would be a better oil than PP 0w20

Is the TBN really gonna be that low for only 6k miles? I think my OLM usually hits 15% around under 9k KM ..

My comments were to reassure demarpaint that the Civic R18 application has proven well calibrated, but that there was a potential recent change with the switch to 0w20 oil. We have simply not seen enough UOAs from 2012+ Civics to know for sure if the OLM was re-calibrated. SnPb's car going 6,000 short trip miles with an OLM reading of 30% seems to indicate it has been re-calibrated. My 2011 Civic sees much longer trips and the OLM is usually down to ~15% by 6,000 miles.

Is there any confirmatory data or UOA evidence to prove these sludge issues are thing of the past in Honda engines with both the 5W-20 and the newer 0W-20 spec oils?
If true then this will help a lot of R18 and other Honda owners to feel more confident and secure!
