Tesla taking SEMI orders

How many years ago was the cybertruck announced?
This is the SEMI truck, not the butt-ugly Cybertruk. I believe the SEMI was announced 5 years ago.

Not to mention him trying to dip into the smartphone market... of course his fanboyz will push yet another Tesla product, but I will simply stick with tried/true. Dude seems all over the place with his thought process...

Yes it is as are many geniuses. Thomas Edison had 1,093 patents.

These trucks are much easier to deal with for specific fleet types. Like Frito Lay hauling chips from the chip plant to the distribution hub. Walmart/target/Costco.. from the DC to the stores. Trucking companies like Swift, JH Hunt….. that have trucks that who knows, could haul paper towels one load from Wisconsin to PA, auto parts from PA to TN for the next load and whatever else after that, don’t have the set routes as an example to deal with these type of trucks effectively.

The Semi fascinated me when they rolled it out. If it's anywhere near the performance they claimed, it will change trucking.

With several times the torque of a diesel - it can maintain speed going up the steepest mountain grades, and when coming back down, recharge the battery.

The range is more than a driver can legally drive in a day, so overnight charging is efficient - no wasted time charging during the driving day.

I agree with you on Musk being all over the place. The biggest fear the market has (and me) regarding Tesla's ongoing success is the loss of their CEO.
But Elon must be doing something right; he has recently lost $120B of his personal worth (on paper) but is still the richest person in the world. And apparantly is couch surfing depending on where he is at any given time.

This semi truck could be a game changer in the long run if the range estimates hold up. In my opinion the bigger bang would be in the shorter haul segment like regional delivery, FedEx for example. There are a lot of areas where this kind of tractor could shine.

Imagine going over a mountain pass with no trucks blowing black smoke as they climb.

Here I sit all alone with a broken Heart, I took three Bennies and My semi truck won't charge. [Start]

Right, and we still haven't seen the Cybertruck from how many years ago so how long until we see this vaporware?
Yeah, the Cybertruk was announced in 2019 and was scheduled for deliveries in 2022. It has been pushed to early next year, but again that is Elon time. It will be built in the new, state of the art Austin factory.
Cybertruk preorder numbers seem to be all over the map, from as low as 1.5M to 3M. I understand there have been many cancellations due to delays and whatever. Who knows for sure?
Regardless, even when they ramp production it will take years to fill existing orders.

Good morning ... could you shed some light on that comment and situation. Thanks!
