Here are two motorcrafts used from a Gen 3 coyote truck with a whipple and supporting mods. Apparently higher mileage on these. The fl2121 was used first for 6000 miles. Then the fl500s was used for 8500 miles mainly on an ethanol blend and a smaller pulley on the supercharger. The fl500s had lots of loose glue floating around the can. Some chunks that were quite big. And the media was extremely brittle and tore very easily. The fl2121 had an easier life and it showed. No real flaws found with it.

That loose glue nonsense is why I've stop using Motorcrafts.

What is the date code on the FL500S?

The fiber end cap construction doesn't look bad. Did that one have a metal center tube or an eCore center tube?

The 2121 is the ecore center tube.

Date code on the 500 is: 904262323
And the 2122: 022323EN 07:53

There was so much loose glue in that 500. I won’t use them or the 820s with all their issues.

Good question, I have bought filters that were old. Cellulose base does deteriorate. The Boss uses a different tan colored glue I think they said it was polyurethane in the video about them.
Pretty soon Vietnam will be the only place to get a decent filter from. Baldwin is still here but they don’t update the adbv.
