Does anyone have a list of synthetic oils that do not contain synthetic esters?

Many synths, regardless of base oil, also contain synthetic esters as additives. The amount is not signifigant enough to matter as far as ARX goes. Frank states to avoid semi-syns too as they have complex additive packages. The best G-III based oil may be Rotella Synth, others used Syntec 10w-40 for ARX. It is only in-service for 1500-2000 miles, I'd just use a dino GF-4.

Although I'd still like to know what the ester-less options are, this may have become a moot question for me. I was hoping the ester-free syns would still have better cold climate performance than the conventional equivalents. Group lll syns, like Syntec and Rotella, seem to perform no better, in the extreme cold, than non-syn favourites like Penzoil.

Some people are going WAY out of their way to mess with things when trying AutoRX. What's wrong with running dino oil for 2000 miles?

It's a product that depends on specific procedure, trying to change things is just asking for trouble.

If M1 has become esterless! Is this recommendation pre or post possible change?

I didn't know you were looking for such a specialized application. It just seems there are a lot of people trying to tear apart Frank's every word.

I don't think many oils are going to give you a lot of protection at -30 degrees with a block heater of some sort. Even still lots of people use dino oil at that temp. Maybe try a dino with a good pour point, or just wait until spring.

T-Keith,

Some people are going WAY out of their way to make assumptions about certain Auto-Rx users! Did you even read my posts? My first question was based on Frank's own comments! And, my second post states that I haven't found a compatible ARX group lll oil, with improved cold performance over dino !

I'm well aware of this. That's why I'm looking for an oil that conforms to Frank's application requirements.

I live in a cold part of the world. It is not unusual for Albertan's to -30c temps in October and November. Last winter we had several weeks of weather hovering around -40c. All I want is an Auto-Rx compatible oil that will perform well in these temps.

I hope this clears up any confusion.
