Think the benefits of synthetic oils were only something discovered in the 1970's?

Think again - check out this June 1946 article, page 99:

Same findings, just 30 years earlier!

:D

Interesting read, and it makes the statements that we hear about today. I see it was used by the military and AAF.

Hmm, so Amsoil WASN'T the first in synthetics.......

Amsoil made the claim so it is so!!! The Amsoil literature is for those who do not know. Just like K@N filter claims.

I love the "poking the beehive" GIF two posts above.

Just like many common people do not know about synthetic fuel plants in Germany during WW2 as well. A lot of really cool technological advances we have can be traced to military pursuits in times of war.

We seem to get hung up over this again and again here on the forum.

So we see that there is truth to Amsoil's "First In Synthetics". Amsoil WAS/IS the first API qualified synthetic motor oil (1972).

Wow - fascinating. Thanks for posting that. I love the stuff about sludge and how synthetic oil cleans up all the junk left behind by refined petroleum oils. This really fills in a timeline gap on BITOG and sorta dismisses the Germanland uber alles claims about motor oil.

Price is priceless!!

(PS Amsoil never claimed they invented synthetic oil, well written compsyn)

Actually I used K@N filters in 1974 on my motorcycle and they really let dirt in and I used Amsoil for a couple of years because one of my friends sold it ,it is oil to me .I am not knocking Amsoil it is one of the premium oils on the market in my opinion there are some that may be better values though . I have been exposed to oils in an industrial setting so I look at products in a different light than the passenger car market.
