Synthetic motor oil in a gun

Almost anything that's vaguely wet will work as a firearm lube.

A good gun oil will be creepy, to get in between parts that aren't going to be disassembled, prevent rust, provide lubrication including extreme pressure protection to prevent galling of parts that are heavily loaded intermittently.

All that above will cover any(winter) bar oil....

Correct. Much better would be gear oil or ATF. Neither have emulsifiers.


The dino gear oil stinks too bad . Do not know about synthetic gear oil ?

I have often used ATF as a gun oil . I use axle / wheel bearing grease on the parts of a Grand that are subject to high speed friction . ATF or motor oil on the rest of the metal .
