A 0w-20 starts out as better base, where a 5w-20 can be made with older/cheaper/easier to purchase material. As a mixer myself (financial more than trying to make magic), I've always wondered if mixing 0w/5w-20s with a thicker 10-30 makes a better oil than a 5w-20/30 off shelf, all things being equal like brand or similar add pack, which they aren't in the first place. Hope i didn't lose you, and not trying to throw out misinformation either.
