Synlube oil 5Wx20 Conclusion

I was searching the web and found this. Never heard of this oil. I like the conclusion especially the "LEASING" part ... granted that "Past the oem warranty" section could be somewhat extreme or over the top! Definitely agree with the "When not to use" section. synlubeI CONCLUSION When to use SAE 5W-20 (or SAE 0W-20) Motor Oil ?

• When "fuel economy" is paramount in importance
• If you are LEASING the vehicle for NOT LONGER than the OEM Engine Warranty
• If you are not planning to keep the vehicle past the OEM Engine Warranty

When NOT to use SAE 5W-20 Motor Oil

• If your vehicle has "High Performance" or "Heavy-Duty" Engine
• If you live in very HOT Climate, where you do not encounter below freezing temperatures
• If you plan to tow anything with your vehicle
• If you plan to keep you vehicle longer than the OEM Engine Warranty duration
• If you subject your vehicle to "high-loads", like frequent "up-hill" travel
• If minimal Engine wear is more important to you than "fuel economy"

I wouldn't use anything presented on the Synlube site as data to form an opinion. The site, the product and the peddler are as dubious as it gets

Also they claim that it will only get you to 70000 miles where if you use different thicker grade the engine will last over 100000 miles. If you use there product then you could get 150000 miles. I love the relationship between Ford using 50 grade in Mustang racing and no HD truck would dare recommend 5w20. First off lots 5w20 grade in HD trucks and when have you heard Track Days cars going 100k without failure.

Many HD trucks around Texas and Louisiana oil fields use 5w20 and many close to or over 200k and that is about as severe as it gets. Many cars including my Caravan recommend 5w20 as well as Ford, Kia,Chevrolet and Toyota with quick lube and Dealer using 5w20. Many are high mileage that are considered Severe Service. Police as well as Taxi service also use 5w20 I can can go on but hopefully you'll get the picture.
