Switching motor oils from QS to Kendall?

Hey all, i'm new here and had a quick question. Currently I use Quaker State full synthetic in my 2004 Ford F-150 4.6L. I saw that Kendall synthetic blend is $3.69/qt. and synthetic is $5/qt. Right now I either spend $6.29/qt. or $19 for 5 qts. Should I make the switch to Kendall or stay with QS? Thanks

Some say shop price only, while others stay with the same brand regardless of price. I fall in the latter catagory.

If you can buy 5-at jug Quaker State full synthetic for $19 then you should stay with it.

The question lacks one critical piece of information, i.e. what oci do you follow/would you adjust it according to the oil purchased?

Right now I follow about 7-8K oci with QS. Kendall could probably go about the same couldn't it?

I logged in to chime on this one, Kendall is a fine oil but... I definitely think you are getting a superior oil for a good price with Quaker State Ultimate Durability. It is one of the best oils for the money. Kendall is good but it got beat to heck in my 4cyl Accord, came out with actual little chunks in the end of the drain after only 3500mi. TheQuaker State Ultimate Durability I have used I run the OLM interval (usually 9K) and it is in great shape. Kendall Synthetic is a different story, I would trust that in a vehicle like yours, but if it is the Kendall "blend" useQuaker State Ultimate Durability hands down.

Another way of evaluating the Kendall blend is to consider it equivalent to the Motorcraft blend recommended by Ford for your vehicle. However, at OCI of 7/8K, I would stick with the Quaker State Synthetic in your climate.

I'm trying out Kendall synthetic right now in my 01' Durango V-8 and so far it appears to be fine although it's only been a hundred moiles or so.

In the past I tried Quaker State Synthetic too and that too appeared to be a well mae oil for my needs.

In short order.... both are fantastic ynthetic oils to use BUT the Kendall is the better value due to it's price.
