Looking at purchasing a used car. Got a copy of the last oil change and they used "5w-20 SN Suprotek Oil". I can't find it. Is this just a typo for "Supertech"?

In googling I did find a PDF for "Suprotek Classic 10w-30".

Any ideas?

That's what I'll do if I can't find out here. The '06 Hylander 3.3 was spec'd for 5w-30 which does give me a little grief.

All I know is that if someone is trying to steal publicity thunder from Walmart's house brand, there's not exactly shooting for the stars, are they?

LOL!

Actually, the owner sent me a picture of the computer generated receipt. That's what got me thinking.

Was the owner Russian by any chance?... Because there is an oil additive that is commonly known and used by many in Russia, it is called Suprotec. And the owner is probably just B/Sing you. Change the oil if you end up buying the car. Anything synthetic from Wal-Mart will do the job better than you expect.

In the grand scheme of things, the last oil change and what brand is inconsequential here. I would be more concerned about proof of overall regular maintenance than dwelling on what bulk jobber oil brand was used last.

The additive itself is some stellar stuff. In USA it's sold under the name Suprotec or Atomium. But the owner probably just stole its name to fake a receipt. Because Suprotec does not make oil, only additives.

Amen! But I got to start somewhere and this is all I have at present. I'm gonna call his shop to clarify.

Suprotek is a private label synthetic blend Shell oil. The auto shop said they used it on everything. Over 16,000 cars per year. Sending me the spec sheet today via email. Hmmm...
