In the article I read is said plans were to initialy cut 1200 jobs or approximately 15 percent. I believe the key word there might be ( initialy )

Also I pulled this paragraph:

“Executing this plan represents one of the largest opportunities to capture synergies for the new Shell Lubricants,” Pirret said. “It also provides the platform to capture additional savings and improvements across the supply chain. One of our key objectives from day one has been to retain customers and margin, and integrate the two companies without any disruption to our customers and consumers of our products.”

Well I am thinking there might be at least 1201 less Pennzoil consumers now Global Economy or not.

Back on topic,
5k on Supertech oil? Many alternatives for just a little more money per quart whether changing at home or at Walmart for a engine that one wants to keep. In a 3 month period it might be 1.50 per month at best for a higher end oil. Guess I would like to see a 5k run on Supertech Dino through analysis,,might be all wrong about it huh?

In addition to the 50 cents or so per quart saved, my other reason for using ST is it's bottled rather than bulk. Better control. If I was changing my own oil I'd probably pay the extra money to get Chevron or Pz.

I note from the story that one of the blending plants that Shell is closing is the Shreveport blending plant that makes the SuperTech-- so there will be some changes there. Since most of the plant closings appear to be PZ/QS, SuperTech may become closer to some of the Shell brands.

Wasn't Shell an oil that varied greatly in different parts of the country?

How would you experts rank supertech conventional oil, compared to castrol, penzoil, valvoline, quakerstate ect.
I am using super tech 5/30 in my escort and hope it is protecting well, Is there a difference if I change every 3k-5k. I plan on changing the supertech out after 3k. Thanks

In the QS/PZ hierarchy of oils, I don't think it's as good as Pennzoil, but probably as good as Quaker State. I get the $11.94 special (substituting a ST filter for the Fram) because it's bottled and a few bucks cheaper than the bulk oils.

Here's a database of PZ/QS 10W30's. The SuperTech specs. are for their SJ oils. You might want to contact Pennzoil and see if they have more up to date data sheets.

10W30 SuperTech Pennzoil Quaker St. Wolf's Head
Visc. 40c 73.2 67.0 69.1 65.3
Visc 100c 11.0 10.5 10.5 10.5
Visc. Indx 140 160 139 138
Flash-F 410 430 410 430
Pour-F -29 -33 -22 -17
Low Pumping-C -25 -30 -22 -30

I haven't noticed many posts from Johnny lately, but as an addition to this, I wondered whether SuperTech and other secondary brands might be shifted over to take up some extra Equilon capacity once the merger with Shell was completed. If not that, where is all the capacity that was devoted to Havoline going to be used for?
