I have a 98 Mustang that has shocks on the rear and struts on the front. They need replacing. I'm pretty sure that I can handle the shocks but not real sure about the struts. Is there any special trick that I need to know to replace the struts. Thanks.

If memory serves, Mustang has springs mounted seperately from struts, if so struts can be changed by jacking under lower controll arm and simply unbolting strut on both ends. When lower bolts are removed spindle will go back to place without any worry of realignment. If upper end can be unbolted and mount left attached to tower, no alignment is necessary. If mount must be removed with strut, MUST be re-aligned.

If I am wrong about springs, and they are around strut, all bets are off. Take it to a pro.

alreadygone is right. keep a jack under the control arm and pop the strut in and out. ive had mine in and out a few times to rebuild the coilovers.

i usually suggest Bilstein on mustangs, the best shock/strut made for that car.
