This filter I snagged yesterday morning. I’m betting it’s First Brands made myself as I don’t see any M&H dna here. Looks serviceable but short makes it a disappointment. Glad I have some FRAM TITANIUMS and CARQUEST premiums.
Definitely looks First Brands. Can anyone tell me if Firet Brands makes this or is it someone else? As stated yesterday; I went 11~ miles east to another Autozone in PA and they are Premium Guard made.
It seems to have all the hallmarks & issues of First Brands so yeah, I'd say your rightCan anyone tell me if Firet Brands makes this or is it someone else? As stated yesterday; I went 11~ miles east to another Autozone in PA and they are Premium Guard made.
I’m just surprised it’s made in Mexico. It seems to have all the hallmarks & issues of First Brands so yeah, I'd say your right
And here you and I bought it could’ve been possibly M&H. When I saw baseplate yesterday I had doubts. All good ZeeOSixLooks more like made by/for Champ Labs, which is under the First Brands umbrella like Fram.
easy identification is date code format, base plate and leaf spring. Can anyone tell me if Firet Brands makes this or is it someone else? As stated yesterday; I went 11~ miles east to another Autozone in PA and they are Premium Guard made.
I’m still confused how a store less than 20 minutes away their oil filters are Premium Guard and other stores are different. So much for “regional” as I call BS on thatI just said in the other thread that it didn't look like a Fram. It has more Champ Lab DNA than Fram. Both are under First Brands, so things get hard to distinguish.
And no leaf spring, but the big coils spring that holds the guts tight ... which is different than the bypass coil spring. All of the PG made filters that I have used, CarQuest Premium, STP XL and Micro Guard Select, what they all have in common are: holes in the center tube and a built in by-pass valve with a coil spring.

YeahLouvers look good, but the leaf spring is still a ruffles factory refugee.
I am too. Don't see COO MX. First Brands up to something different? Either they're sending leaf springs down there or their equipment is just as bad with the ruffles. Either way, interesting to think about.I’m just surprised it’s made in Mexico.

It’s easy to see in picture. June 8, 2024I’m a little rusty on the date codes. Does anyone know what it is?
