A WW2 Veteran, extremely successful doing what he loved. Entertained millions. A life well lived.

Rest In Peace.

We've lost a great storyteller who fundamentally transformed the genre, and the movies that followed. Heroes with real problems, from issues like Peter Parker's unrequited crushes to Tony Stark's alcoholism to the reluctance of the Fantastic Four to accept their new powers, Stan Lee's characters, including the villains, were real, and he ushered in a great age of comic writing. The incredible success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe attests to his desire to craft genuine characters, where their fears, struggles, flaws and triumphs were the central story, and the colorful costumes and super powers merely the venue in which those struggles took place.

RIP Stan Lee.

I was a huge fan of the Sgt Fury comic books when I was 10 and 11. They were pretty progressive, combating racial and national prejudice. One of the Howlers was black, one was Jewish, and one was a free German fighting the Nazis. Good stuff for a young fellow.

RIP Stan!
