Stainless Steel, Reusable Oil Filter Information

Does anyone happen to have a link to any sort of laboratory testing regarding the characteristics of stainless steel oil filters? I'm a member of a popular forum for small displacement Kawasaki sportbikes and there's a thread going on regarding "Flo" stainless steel reusable oil filters. I don't believe the claims these filters make for a second (better filtration AND flow rate despite less surface area and only filtering particles 2-3 time the size of a traditional filter), but I'm having a really hard time getting some of the members there to see why these products are likely not a good investment. I've looked around for some hard data on these filters, but it doesn't seem to exist; one of the warning flags for me. At the very least, I'm looking for a UOA from someone who has used one, but even better would be a simple data sheet listing efficiency, etc.

So, can anyone help me out? I've tried a search, but I didn't come up with anything.

You can try presenting data to people, but be prepared to let them be stubborn and just worry about your own ride.

With a wet clutch, no way. Way to much stuff comes off a clutch even with 10k miles on it. If you or one of the people you ride with gets a new bike, cut the first oil filter open to see all the [censored] that will be in it.

Most of the guys I ride with put the largest oil filter that will fit their bike.

Also, how do you clean the element, be sure it is actually clean, and sure that there are no dirt particles on the downstream side of the element.

I've used these on a hydraulic system where we had them ultrasonically cleaned. Worked OK, but not my first choice.

Agreed, we got better particle counts with (and I wasn't happy when I found out they'd been bought) a cheap paper one with the seam stapled together rather than glued.
