Can SS grade 304/305 hardware be used on a boat or do I need SS 316?

Will this boat be used in salt water?
304 and 305 stainless steel are both corrosion resistant.
316 stainless steel has added molybdenum for superior corrosion resistance.

For marine use you may want to look at 309 also.

So. Home Depot and Lowes sell SS hardware allegedly rated for marine use but neither give the garde rating. Does anyone know if they are the same 304/305 grade or is one of them 316. Looking to install some extra cleats on a boat used in mainly fresh water (lake).
