The HVAC vent covers in my house were a little worse for the wear. I sanded them down and spray-painted them with metallic nickel spray paint. They came out looking nice. But, they stink to high heaven when they are replaced and the heat turned on! I did put them in front of a space heater to help cure, and it's been about 3 weeks since I painted them. They still stink. I haven't sprayed any clear coat over top or anything.

Any way of salvaging them, or did I just commit myself to buying a house full of vent covers?

Rustoleum metallic flake paint.

So either time or more heat. I want them usable, so looks like more heat.
