Mike, of the +4 ATF's I looked at, they did say "suitable for some Hyundai and Mitsubishi vehicles" on the bottle, but did not say anything about SP-III.

Joel
the reason i ask is autozones web sight took me to atf+4 when i typed in atf for my brothers 2004 hyundai santa fe but it also showed castrol import to. the atf+4 i buy at walmart says hyundai transaxles as well as chrysler.

if i was a gambling man i would say sp III is the same as atf+3. and atf+4 is the upgrade for spIII and maybe hyundai hasn't taken the synthetic atf leap yet? mike

The characteristics of SP3 might be the same as ATF+3, but it is believed that Hyundai add a chemical marker to SP3 and if that's not in the transmission fluid, your warranty claim will be denied. Or it might be an urban legend, who knows.
