Speedial mysteriously appeared and I want to get rid of it. I went into uninstall programs and it it not there. My computer will not let me do a system restore, how do I do away with it. Thank you so much.

People can avoid a lot of issues if they are extremely careful with what they download from the internet. I have never heard of 'Speedial.' If I did see it somewhere I sure would not download it. The major web browsers I have heard of are IE, of course (Microsoft), Safari (Apple), Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Opera. Anything can have malware nowadays. Even online photos, music, videos, etc. It is a good idea to buy and download the music you want from someplace like Amazon.com. You can actually get free backgrounds and screensavers from safe sites like Microsoft.com. Why download some mysterious screensaver or background photos?

I mentioned some time ago how my buddy's mother in law had what was basically a porn dialer on her new laptop (new idea - a chat thing that tried to use the modem to dial out, with little success, of course), among other toolbars and stuff like that. I'm not quite sure how an ordinary picture or music file can actually be malware. I certainly understand that people can be steered to the wrong file very easily, since Windows is far too reliant on file extension names. I'd guess this Speedial was packaged with something else similarly dubious.
