Looks like it picked up a few new approvals as well to include BMW LL01. Mobil 1 PDS hasn’t been updated to reflect the new SP version yet. New and old jugs attached for reference. Spotted at AAP.

The PDS has been updated, it's no longer called FSX2, since it attained MB229.5 approval a few months after hitting shelves it was rebranded to just FS.

Thank you for correcting me on that.

The first package shown that is labeled API SN contains the current API SP lubricant. The package date of the API SN is 09 October 2022 (Louisiana facility, first shift) and Mobil was producing and packaging the current API SP product at that time. The contents are new while the old packaging was being depleted.

I just checked the jugs I got last June, they were filled in the 27th of May and had revision number of 6294 so it was still the old formula.

Did you speak with a representative from Mobil about the formulation change? Did you ask them when the blend mix was actually being produced and bottled? It might be interesting if you had.

I hate to post a new thread on this topic since this exists and it's fairly recent.. Anyone else try this SP rated M1 Euro 5w-40? I don't see many topics on this particular oil.

I'm using it in my T-GDI Buick despite it not having official Dexos approval; the SP rating gave me piece of mind that it wouldn't cause LSPI issues which has been known to crack pistons on GM 2.0T LTG engines.

I would be willing to do a VOA if anyone is interested. I have no crystal ball, but I don't think the old 0w40 Euro M1 formula is long for this Earth. Cars that can't use it (GDI/T-GDI/LSPI) are multiplying exponentially thus it's well on its way to being an obsolete oil IMO.
