Let's see. Normal 8 hour work day would be 8 to 5 pm. Add to that 1.5 hours of commute. Add to that 6 hours of sleep. That leaves 7.5 hours a day for taking care of the rest of your life.

Spending 2 hours on purchasing fresh ingredients and cooking them is not the best use for your time.

That's about what I have with the hours adjusted earlier & no problems cooking at home. We eat out about 1x/month. Travel is an exception. Like I said before, it's all about priorities. I don't make it a priority or I wouldn't eat out then. BTW, going w/o a meal doesn't hurt many folks.

Only after they've trained the people's taste buds to want as much salt as PROFESSIONAL chefs put in stuff.

Your equation is wrong. You can't ignore a fourth of your sense of taste and be a great cook.

Wow! That may have been the best thing I have read in a forum for a long time.

I guess that depends on what your health and life is worth.
It does not take 2 hrs a day to prepare meals. This is especially true if you stick to raw veggies as a mainstay of your diet. 2 hrs once per week will provide (me anyway) enough ruffage for 3 huge salads per day. Add another hr 1x/week to cook up a few lbs. of chicken, and a majority of meals are covered.

It's very true about the time thing.

Better half had a non-working friend complaining about the cost of eating. Chinese, Maccas, KFC, Red Rooster, and pizza all weel.

Better half drew her up a menu plan for spaghetti, stew, chicken, lamb, and beef stir fries etc. that would have halved their bills, provided a lunch for her man each day, and be so much healthier.

two weeks later asked how it was going "Who's got time for all of that ?"

She did...nothing to do, and all day to do it in, but still wouldn't.
