So I got a few Car Quest filters from Rock Auto Clearance about a year ago. 5 for my Scion, all Wix made CQ Blue, 3 CQ Red for my truck; 1 is Wix made, the other 2, not sure.
The 2 unknown were just wrapped in cellophane and have no date codes on them that I can see, not sure how to decipher the base plate. Just wondering if it is a Fram or Purolator made filter.

Here is the baseplate:

and here is the filter itself:

In all truthfulness, I know it really does not matter. I do 6 month OCI on the truck and that is less than 4000 miles (all very short trip), so almost any filter will work, but really just wondering.
I have one on the truck right now (was going to change oil today but is supposed to rain most of the day) so once I get it off I will cut it open just to see.

Thanks

OK, was not sure if that was the date code or not. I read in another thread that the Fram made CQ Red had some yellow date coding on them. Guess not. And here I was saying I would never run another Fram. LOL.
I wonder if it is a metal or fiber endcap design? Guess I will see when I get the old one off and cut open.

So how do you decipher that code? From what I read, the Fram were a late 2014 to mid 2015 time frame?

A50681
A = Plant (Greenville, OH)
5 = Year (2015)
068 = Julian Date (March 9, 2015)
1 = Shift

Thank you 2015_PSD

yeah, thanks. How does one even know that information? That code was just a gibberish of numbers and letters to me.

I did get around to changing the oil today and got the old one off. It will be a few days till I am able to cut it open though.
I will post when I do it.
